Preston Thompson’s Carpet Shoppe – Facebook has reached the local business community in the US
Before going to Cleveland, Ohio, to work with the UCC for six weeks, we are staying with friends in Tennessee. It is five years since I have been to the US, and five years is nearly eternity regarding social media. Six years ago I signed up for Facebook, four years ago for Twitter, and a lot has happened since then.
I am surprised that Facebook marketing has reached the local business community. Preston Thompson’s Carpet Shoppe is one example of this trend.
I do not know if you can generalizes this example or if Preston Thompson’s Carpet Shoppe is an exception but my personal perception is that Facebook usage is far more advanced than in Germany.
Preston Thompson’s Carpet Shoppe also has a YouTube Channel, a Twitter account and a Pinterest board.
Who can handle four social media channels and sell carpets? It is a challenge if your main field of expertise is carpets.
Social Media needs to be personal, it is not the same if you have somebody do it from outside the company. The challenge is to encourage employees and customers to tell their stories on the various social media channels. A satisfied client on Facebook is the best reference for his or her friends on Facebook.
Maybe you like Preston Thompson’s Carpet Shoppe on Facebook and show them with your “LIke” that they are on the right way in social media marketing.
